Dr. Murphy graduated with her MD from the University of Calgary, did her residency in Ob/Gyn at UBC then a sub-specialty training program in Gynecologic Oncology at UBC and McMaster University. She has been on faculty at UBC and McMaster and since 1988 has been at University Health Network and University of Toronto, currently as Associate Professor. Dr. Murphy was recently awarded the J. Douglas Crashley Chair in Gynecologic Cancer Research. She has co-chaired the Toronto Ovarian Cancer Research Network since its inception and has sat on the Board of the National Ovarian Cancer Association, now Ovarian Cancer Canada, and the Genesis Research Foundation. From 1995 to 2008 she was Chief of the UHN Division of Gynecologic Oncology, is Past President and Past Secretary Treasurer and Program Committee Chair of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists of Canada and chairs the GOC Task Force on Cervical Cancer Prevention and Control.
